New York City!

Well, we figured we better take advantage of where we are, so we decided to go to NYC. Yes, that's right, NYC!!! We checked out the public transportation systems around here, packed Lincoln up, and headed for Trenton, NJ, which was just 100 miles away. Here we caught a train all the way to Penn Station which is at Madison Square Garden.

Here we are, no stroller, no carrier, just us, a baby, and a diaper bag! We start walking because I think that Times Square is just around the block. Well, we walked the block and found a Starbucks. Did I mention it was 30 degrees and FREEZING!!! So we duck into our home away from home and ate some awesome sandwiches that WV Starbucks will probably never ever have. We looked at the GPS on the Ben's phone, figured out where we were going and walked out the door and changed our mind and went straight to the subway. Like stupid tourists from WV, we asked the lady "squz me ma'am, how you get to Times Square from here?" She politely told us to take any downtown train and get off at the next stop. Well, with her help, we finally got some money loaded and took the next downtown train. Lincoln is getting soooo sleepy at this point. We get out of the subway, come up and low and behold, we're in Times Square! Well fortunately there were some tour bus people standing right there and I trusted them to swipe my debit card and get us on a bus. While we are waiting on the bus, I realize poor Lincoln has fallen asleep! Ben is holding him, standing right in Times Square, and he is sound asleep! He slept through the entire bus trip, which ended up being about 3 hours long because of traffic. I think the coolest thing we saw was a shooting of 30 Rock right outside NBC Studios and Alec Baldwin was standing right there! I could go on and on with all the really cool things that we saw, but I don't think there's enough time. Our tour guide was really good. Did you know that Trump Tower is the tallest Residential Building in the world? And did you know that with 2.2 million square feet, Macy's is the world's biggest retail store? Crazy. After that was all over, we went back to Penn Station, where I must mention were the most horrible smelling bathrooms EVER. The rules of conduct were posted outside and it included no bathing. Ok, so there were people brushing their teeth in there. Ick. Oooh-I also saw a No Honking-$350 Penalty sign. I love WV. So anyway, we go to Penn Station, eat some Nathan's hot dogs which were SOOO good, catch our train, and go back to Trenton. We got on the train at 5:01 which is obviously rush hour so we are the only tourists on there. It was a train with only 4 stops so it only took an hour to get back to Trenton. It was truly an awesome, amazing experience.

Going to PA!

Tomorrow at 6am, Lincoln will be taking his very first flight and I will be taking my first flight with a baby! Ben has to work in Lancaster, PA for a week or so and I couldn't go with him because I have class on Monday nights. So, mom and dad bought me and Lincoln a ticket to fly there! We fly out of Charleston to Detroit first, then to Philadelphia. I'm really excited but a little nervous too! I sent all of our stuff with Daddy and we are just taking a carry-on. I have just a little more preparing then we are all ready! I hear Lancaster has plenty of Amish so I am looking forward to getting some cheese! Ah, the little things in life!

Why is it so hard to come up with a title?

I have the same problem when I write a paper, type an email, post a blog on myspace, or now, post a blog on here. I guess it's hard to sum up what you're writing about when you haven't even written it yet. I suppose I could just start writing the subject/title after I write the paper or blog, but then, if that was the intention, why do they put it ahead of the actual blog? I'm sure that I have more important things to think about, but I'll bet I'm not the only one with that problem.

So, this is my first blog on blogspot. Oh how I wish I'd have blogged about the last 4 years, but I didn't, so we'll have to start here. Hopefully I will be able to keep people up to date better this way, so that everybody can see our boy. He is just over 20lbs and 28 inches. He is growing so fast and changing and getting cuter every single day! He is now pulling himself up on EVERYTHING and crawling EVERYWHERE. I'm predicting walking by Christmas.
Ok, that's all for this new edition of our lives.
